1. Flood Plains

    The County is located on a narrow, hilly, wooded peninsula between 3 major rivers: the James to the south, the York to the northeast and the Chickahominy to the west. The County possesses broad tidal and tributary floodplains adjacent to most of the streams and rivers.

  2. Longhill Road Corridor Study

    James City County conducted a study of the Longhill Road corridor from Route 199 to Centerville Road.

  3. Mooretown Road Study

    In 2009, the Mooretown Road Extension was incorporated into the adopted James City County Comprehensive Plan after analysis revealed that the road could improve evacuation options during severe weather events and had the potential to alleviate traffic congestion.
