  1. Brookhaven Drainage Improvements

    Find out about the Brookhaven Subdivision Drainage Improvements and Stormwater Retrofit.

  2. Community Center

    This project consists of the installation of a 600-kilowatt generator at the James River Elementary School/Frink Community Center. The Community Center is to serve as a general shelter during various emergencies but it currently lacks emergency power capabilities.

  3. Essex Court

    This project consists of the stabilization of outfalls and stream banks to reduce erosion caused by uncontrolled runoff from the upstream cemetery and Scott’s Pond neighborhood.

  4. Fire Station 1

    The James City - Bruton Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad in Toano was originally built on the former Toano High School site.

  5. Fire Station 4

    James City County Fire Station 4 was originally built around 1980 and is in need of replacement. The new building will be approximately 14,400 square feet with a 3 vehicle bay facility, living quarters for up to 12 individuals, offices and space for training and storage.

  6. Freedom Park

    This project consists of the construction of a pervious paver parking lot adding 30 parking spaces, 2 picnic shelters, some additional sidewalks, accommodations for a playground and a patio on the rear of the Freedom Park Interpretive Center.

  7. James City County Recreation Center

    There was a pool of funds that were allocated in FY2013 to perform several renovation items for the Recreation Center. This report covers renovations to upgrade the condition of the community rooms, the kitchen, and restroom facilities.

  8. James River Elementary School

    This project, located in the headwaters of Grices Run on James River Elementary School property, consists of the stabilization of an intermittent stream channel to reduce erosion and the installation of a bioretention stormwater facility to improve stormwater runoff water quality.

  1. James Terrace

    The James Terrace Subdivision stormwater and drainage improvements will provide improved routing in combination with additional stabilization measures to prevent erodible areas from forming and mitigate pockets of flooding in the future.

  2. Jamestown Beach

    This project consists of 500 linear feet of shoreline stabilization and creation of a paddle craft launch area.

  3. Jolly Pond Convenience Center

    The Jolly Pond Convenience Center Improvements project is composed of several site improvements. The improvements include correcting drainage issues in the current vegetative debris drop-off area as it is prone to flooding.

  4. Kingspoint

    This project consists of the correction of an erosion problem caused primarily by drainage from Southpoint Drive. The erosion is in a steep channel adjacent to environmentally sensitive areas with the potential to damage a residential structure.

  5. Mid County Park

    This project includes the razing of the existing office building and timber-framed Kidsburg. Kidsburg will be replaced, but its design and theme will be retained in the new playground structures.

  6. Stonehouse Elementary School

    This project consisted of the repair of a failed stormwater management facility and the eroded outfall channel that receives the discharge from the facility.

  7. Warhill Sports Complex

    This project consists of the repair and retrofitting of a failed stormwater management facility at the Warhill Sports Complex.

  8. Yarmouth Tributaries

    This project consists of the stabilization of outfalls and stream banks to reduce erosion caused by uncontrolled runoff from Richmond Road and adjacent commercial developments in the Lightfoot area.
