Treasurer's Office Contracts with Law Firm to Collect Delinquent Taxes

Door to Commissioner of the Revenue Treasurer Office

The James City County Treasurer’s Office has contracted with the Virginia law firm, Taxing Authority Consulting Services, P.C. (TACS), to assist with the collection of delinquent real estate taxes.

All taxpayers owing real estate taxes delinquent over 90 days will receive a mailed notice with one final opportunity to work with the Treasurer’s Office to bring accounts current. Once accounts are turned over to TACS, additional collection fees will be added to any remaining balances due and legal action will begin. Legal actions will include any and all collection remedies afforded to the Treasurer by Virginia State Code, up to and including sale of the property.

Taxpayers with any questions or concerns should contact the Treasurer’s Office at 757-253-6705.
