The James City County Police Department will be offering free firearm safety classes to the public in November and December. Each one session class will cover basic safety, handling, storage and basic laws related to carrying a concealed handgun in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The class does not include hands-on training, and personal firearms should be left at home in a secure location.
This course meets the requirement for the “Documentation of Proof of Handgun Competency” as part of the VA Concealed Handgun Permit application process, and a certificate of attendance will be provided to attendees.
Pre-registration is required and can be completed by clicking on the dates below.
Nov. 16, 6:30-9 p.m. and Nov. 25, 9-11:30 a.m.
Dec. 5, 6:30-9 p.m. and Dec. 16, 9-11:30 a.m.
All classes will be held at the Law Enforcement Center at 4600 Opportunity Way.
Project ChildSafe provides free gunlocks that will be available to participants.
