County Offers First-time Homebuyer Program


The program is offered in partnership with the Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) and the JCC Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) for those who live or work in James City County or the City of Williamsburg and have not owned a home in the last three years. 

You may be eligible if you:

  • earn between $38,000 - $67,999;
  • have a credit score of 620 or higher; and/or
  • have little or no debt

Down payment and closing cost assistance are available to qualified first-time homebuyers.

A variety of townhomes, condominiums and single-family homes are available at:

  • Braemar Creek;
  • Ironbound Subdivision;
  • Liberty Crossing; and,
  • Williamsburg Village at Norge.

Participation in the program requires attendance at a VHDA Homeownership class.
