Colonial Group Home Commission

A regional commission where two members are appointed by, and represent, each of the participating governing bodies.  The Colonial Group Home Commission (CGHC) provides oversight of a variety of juvenile justice alternative community-based programs including Crossroads Community Youth Home in Williamsburg, Community Supervision – Electronic Monitoring, Project Insight – Community Service Work, and Psychological & Substance Abuse Services throughout the region. The Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act (VJCCCA) has been a major funding source for these programs as well as grant contributions while local funding is shared according to a predetermined population-based formula. James City County receives services for at-risk delinquent and troubled youth as a member of York County’s VJCCCA Combined Plan. York County's Juvenile Services Division is the managing jurisdiction and fiscal administrator for the CGHC and the VJCCCA Combined Plan. Citizens interested in serving on a County Board or Commission can call 757-253-6609 or 757-564-2160 for information, or fill out the Application to Serve (PDF). PDF
