Colonial Community Corrections - Pretrial Services


Pretrial Services performs services in two divisions: investigative and supervisory. The following lists include specific duties of both divisions:

1. Investigative Division

  • Interview jail inmates
  • Complete necessary Court paperwork
  • Verify inmate reported information
  • Review criminal histories
  • Evaluate compiled information and make recommendation for bond determination
  • Provide judges, commonwealth attorneys, and defense attorneys with completed investigations/recommendations
  • Process new pretrial referrals

2. Supervision Division

  • Review pretrial referrals
  • Conduct weekly personal contacts with clients
  • Monitor weekly telephone contacts with clients
  • Conduct substance abuse testing
  • Monitor client compliance with special conditions
  • Prepare compliance and/or violation reports for Court
