The Fire Marshal's Office
The Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for the enforcement of applicable state and local codes dealing with Fire Inspections, Fire Safety, and Fire Investigations. Fire Marshals are responsible for investigations of bomb threats, situations involving explosives and the origin and cause of fires among other things. The office issues burn permits and fireworks permits. This office will also conduct background investigations for all fire department applicants. The Fire Marshal’s Office is made up of assigned full-time Assistant Fire Marshals who work under the direction of Fire Marshal John Black. There are also on-call Assistant Fire Marshal opportunities for staff members that are currently working as career operational Fire Rescue Technicians.
