Busch Gardens honored – The Board of Supervisors and Economic Development Authority recognized Busch Gardens Williamsburg as this year’s recipient of the Captain John Smith Award for their exemplary contributions in the business community.
In presenting the award, Berkeley District Supervisor and Board of Supervisors Chairman, Mary Jones, noted, “For more than 35 years, Busch Gardens Williamsburg has thrilled local residents and assisted a thriving tourism base for James City County and the Historic Triangle. Busch Gardens Williamsburg is the 2011 recipient of the Captain John Smith Award for its continued investment in the County and charitable efforts in the local region.”

Help feed local families this holiday season – Drop off your donations of canned foods at the James City/Williamsburg Community Center (JCWCC), 5301 Longhill Rd., through Nov. 19 during regular operating hours.
As a special offer, on Nov. 19 only, visitors who make donations of two or more canned goods can use the Center for free for that day. Free use includes access to all fitness equipment and the swimming pool. Thank you for supporting area food banks. Info: 757-259-4200.
Are you on Santa’s contact list? – Parks and Recreation is providing a direct line to the North Pole for one night only, Dec. 6 from 5:30-8 p.m. Santa Claus wants to talk to all children in James City County and the City of Williamsburg who are nine years old and younger.
