The new Kidsburg will be fully ADA compliant, universal and barrier free. Amenities for the proposed new 30,000 square-foot playground include a general play area, a ship replica and a swing area. In addition, there will be a separate gated area for children aged 2 to 5. Dependent on funding, a spray pad element is still being considered.
Learn more about the JCCPD – The next Citizens Police Academy begins Sept. 5. Topics covered in the free 14-session program include polygraphs, traffic stops, DUI enforcement, firearms, crime scene investigations and officer survival. The Academy is open to adults living or working in the County. Most classes are held on Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center.

Be part of the process – If you are a registered voter in Virginia and are not employed by an elected official, you are eligible to be an Officer of Election.
Officers of Election work on Election Day from 5 a.m. until all results have been reported. Duties include demonstrating equipment, making sure voters are in their proper precinct, helping citizens complete necessary changes of address and reminding voters to check their ballots for accuracy.

Can’t get to DMV? – DMV is coming to you! On Aug. 15, the Division of Motor Vehicles’ (DMV) mobile customer service center will set up shop from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Satellite Services.
The handicapped-accessible full service office-on-wheels is equipped to process all DMV transactions including driver’s license and identification card applications and renewals, written and driving vehicle skills tests, boat titling, transcripts and disabled parking placards and plates.
