What do you do with unused medication? –
The Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for the Nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the James City County Recreation Center.
Disposing of unused and unwanted medications helps eliminate the opportunity for prescription drug abuse. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. For more information, visit the DEA's website or call Sgt. Humphries with the James City County Police Department at 757-603-6022.
Mark your calendars – James City County will hold an open house at the Government Center (101 Mounts Bay Rd.) on Sept. 26 from 3-7 p.m. Come out and meet the County Administrator and other staff, get a child identification card, check your blood pressure and register to vote all in one place.

Drool in the Pool – After a long summer, dogs will finally have the Chickahominy Riverfront Park pool to themselves on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Admission is $5 per dog or free if you show completed Tails on the Trail ‘Paws-port’.
Listen to music by Philip Newbury from WMBG Radio, participate in pet contests, see demonstrations and visit the pet-friendly vendors. To participate, all dogs must be properly registered and vaccinated. The event is offered in partnership with Heritage Humane Society and all proceeds will benefit the Society.
