Comprehensive Plan Tool earns awards – The County’s 2009 Comprehensive Plan Implementation Tracking Tool has received a 2012 Achievement Award from the Virginia Association of Counties and the Planning Innovation Award from the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association.
The web-based Tool tracks and manages the County’s progress in accomplishing the Comprehensive Plan’s nine goals, 57 strategies and 435 actions. The public is able to view the actions and progress through the County’s website and the Planning Commission Annual Report.
In July, the 2009 Comprehensive Plan received two awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo): the 2012 Achievement Award and the 2012 Best Rural Program Award (population 75,000 and under).
Navigate your government – Attend an open house at the County Government Center on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 3-7 p.m., 101 Mounts Bay Rd. The event will feature information, giveaways and demonstrations to help you learn more about the County services and departments that affect you daily life.

Be ready to vote – The Office of Voter Registration and Elections encourages all County voters to verify their registration information on the State Board of Elections website or by calling the Voter Registrar's Office at 757-253-6868 well in advance of the Nov. 6 election.
Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 is the last day to register to vote or change voter registration information for the Nov. 6 election. Applications can be hand-delivered or mailed to the Voter Registrar’s Office. Mailed applications must be postmarked on or before the deadline.
