Budget update – The Board of Supervisors adopted the FY2014 budget at their April 23 meeting. The new budget goes into effect July 1, 2013.
It's that time of year – Annual outdoor water use regulations for James City Service Authority (JCSA) customers begin May 1 and are in effect through Sept. 30.
Under the Ordinances, customers may use water outdoors for any purpose, at any time, on any day, as long as it is with a container or hose with an automatic shutoff nozzle. Year in review – The James City County Fiscal Year 2012 annual report covers achievements, projects and other initiatives from July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012. During the year, the Board of Supervisors and County staff continued to maintain a delicate balance between services and fiscal responsibility. Your County government was able to meet those demands, plan for the future and maintain a positive fiscal report card.
This year, updated values and visions were adopted and used to drive decisions and shape our future with the ultimate goal being the County's mission: We work in partnership with all citizens to achieve a quality community.
Be a lifesaver – The Police Department will host the fourth annual Project Lifesaver Car Show on May 4 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Warhill High School. Proceeds will be used to support Project Lifesaver – a program that provides a small radio transmitter to people who are in danger of wandering away from home and becoming lost as a result of autism, Alzheimer's disease or other disorders.

Mid County Park update - The old Kidsburg structure has been removed and contractors are preparing the site for installation of the new playground structure. Construction is expected to be completed by early summer. Work continues on the new Park Office building which will include improved restroom facilities, a vending area, two staff offices and a small meeting room designed for both programming and community use.
