Are you prepared for a tornado? – In 2011 and 2012, a total of 62 tornadoes struck Virginia killing 10, injuring more than 100 and destroying 210 homes and 17 businesses. Tornadoes can strike anywhere, at any time and you need to know what to do. The best way to be ready is to practice a drill in your home, workplace and school.

Interested in running for public office? – In preparation for the 2013 General Election campaign, the State Board of Elections is offering Candidate and Campaign Finance Training. The training will cover how to get on the ballot and comply with petition laws and regulations as well as information on the laws and policies governing campaign finance reporting and compliance.

What's that sound? – At approximately 11:10 a.m. on March 13, State and local officials will test the early warning siren system for the Surry Power Station. The quarterly test consists of a steady three-minute tone that is sounded by sirens located in a 10-mile radius of the plant.
Can't get to DMV? – On March 11, the Division of Motor Vehicles' (DMV) mobile customer service center will set up shop from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Satellite Services.
The handicapped-accessible full service office-on-wheels is equipped to process all DMV transactions including driver's license and identification card applications and renewals, written and driving vehicle skills tests, boat titling, transcripts and disabled parking placards and plates.
