Cooling assistance available – With temperatures in the triple digits, staying cool is not a luxury, but a necessity for health, safety and quality of life.
Cooling assistance is available to households that include a child under age six, a disabled individual or an adult age 60 or over who meet income and eligibility requirements. Applications and detailed eligibility information is available online.

Take a stand against auto theft – A free Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) etching event will be held Saturday, July 24 from
10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the New Town parking lot near Conte’s Bike Shop and New Town Cinemas, 4919 Courthouse St.
Police Officers etch the federally-assigned VIN onto the windows using a chemical solution that does not mar the look of the vehicle. The process typically takes 10 minutes per vehicle. For more information, call 253-2058.
Love music? – Come out every Thursday night in July for Thursday Sounds on the Square, a free outdoor concert series in New Town. The concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. in Sullivan Square behind 2007 Legacy Hall.
