Summer Water Safety – As the weather heats up, residents and visitors are on our local waterways boating, fishing and swimming. Unfortunately, more traffic can lead to more accidents and law violations. Boaters should be aware that State Code limits motorboat speeds and wakes within fifty feet of docks, piers, boathouses, boat ramps and people in the water. Visit the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries’ website and the U.S. Coast Guard’s website to learn more.
