Update on Bomb Threat Information - 02/09/01
This is an update to the previous press release concerning the Juvenile that was charged with making a series of Bomb Threats this week at Lafayette High School. That Press Release is repeated below. The updated information is as follows.
Juvenile petitions have been applied for a second 15 year old male. The second juvenile is also a student at Lafayette High School. The Fire Marshals Office is asking for two felony counts of Making Threats to Bomb (Code of Virginia 18.2-83) Juvenile Charged with Bomb Threats to School
Three bomb threats were made against Lafayette High School this week. The first threat was telephoned to the school on 02/07/2001, at 7:32 a.m. The second threat was telephoned to the school at 1:09 p.m. that same afternoon. The third threat was telephoned to the school at 7:37 a.m. on the 8th.
The following actions were immediately taken after the receipt of all three threats. School staff ordered the evacuation of students and staff from the building to a safe location. The James City County Fire and Police Departments responded to the school.
The Fire Marshals, Police, and Lafayette High School staff conducted a joint investigation. This cooperative investigation has led to petitions being filed against a juvenile charging 3 felony counts of Making Threats to Bomb (Code of Virginia 18.2-83). The juvenile is a student at Lafayette High School.
The investigation is continuing with additional charges pending.
We would like to point out that this investigations success was a result of the cooperation between the Fire Marshals, School Administration Staff, the Police Department, the School Resource Officer, and the Students at Lafayette High School.
