(James City County) On Tuesday, May 27 at 3 p.m., the James City Service Authority (JCSA) will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the beginning of operations at the Ironbound Water Storage Facility at Ironbound Road and Monticello Avenue. The ceremony will precede the 4 p.m. Board of Supervisors work session at 101-C Mounts Bay Road.
The facility increases the JCSA's storage capacity by one million gallons. This allows the JCSA to better manage its water supply to meet customer demand, and makes it possible for the JCSA to purchase water from Newport News if needed.
According to Larry Foster, General Manager of the JCSA, "Completion of this facility is another major component of our ongoing efforts to meet JCSA customer’s water needs. When we began, our goal was to design and build a structure that is not only functional but aesthetically pleasing. We hope the community agrees that we have met our goal."
The facility was designed and constructed by local architects, engineers and contractors that were sensitive and responsive to the Community’s values and needs. It took the JCSA five years to acquire the property and design the facility, and a year to construct.
