James City County Fire Department

Units from the James City County Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire at 24 Elbow Beach Road in the Country Village Mobile Home Park at 4:35 a.m. today. Country Village is located in the Grove Community at the eastern end of the county. Units arrived to find the mobile home fully involved with fire. The mobile home was vacant, there were no injuries. The mobile home is owned by "Bobjack ,Ltd.," the entity that also owns the mobile home park. The home was valued at $5000.00 and is a total loss.

The fire was investigated by James City County Fire Marshals. The cause of the fire was determined to be incendiary. Fire Marshals arrested Mr. Ernest Warren Cornelison and charged him with Arson, and Breaking and Entering. Mr. Cornelison's last known address was 34 Del Largo Drive; he does not currently have a fixed address.

Mr. Cornelison told investigators that he broke into the mobile home because he needed a place to stay. He then stated that he set the fire because he wanted to kill himself. After setting the fire, he changed his mind and fled the mobile home. Investigators were led to Mr. Cornelison because he dropped his wallet near the front door of the mobile home, in the yard. The wallet contained his Virginia ID Card, His Social Security Card, and his Birth Certificate.
