James City County Government offices will be closed on Monday, September 22 with the exception of the Satellite office located at 3127 Forge Road, which will be issuing storm related building permits. In addition, inspectors will be issuing permits in the field. Permits issued for storm related damage will be free. For more information, call 564-2160.

 

Newport News Waterworks has lifted their Boil Water Notice. James City County residents who are customers of Newport News Waterworks (Kingsmill and Grove residents) no longer need to boil their water.

 

James City County residents with emergency needs for water can bring small jugs any time to Fire Station 1 and Fire Station 5 to receive water. Fire Station 1 is located at 3125 Forge Road in Toano. Fire Station 5 is located at 3201 Monticello Avenue. Residents must bring their own containers in order to receive water.

 

James City County is providing free bottled water on Monday, September 22 at the following locations and times:

  • 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. - near the Chickahominy Haven entrance
  • 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Toano Middle School, 7817 Richmond Road
  • 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. - York River Baptist Church, 8201 Croaker Road
  • 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. - James River Baptist Church (Jolly Pond Road)

 

James City County and City of Williamsburg residents and families with emergency needs for water and bath facilities can come to the James City/Williamsburg Community Center on Monday, September 22 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for showering/bathing purposes only. Residents should bring all bathing supplies - such as towels, soaps, and shampoos. The Community Center remains closed for all recreational purposes.

 

Debris clean-up is scheduled to begin later in the week. Residents are advised to move woody debris to the front of their driveways for pick-up. The debris should be kept away from mailboxes, telephone wires, or lampposts for easier removal.

 

The James City County Convenience Centers will be open on Monday, September 22, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Centers are located at 1204 Jolly Pond Road, 107 Tewning Road, and 3127 Forge Road in Toano. The landfill will be open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. All fees are waived.

 

Williamsburg Area Transport will operate full routes on Monday, September 22 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
