James City County - September 22, 2003 - 11:15 Update

James City County Government offices will be closed on Monday, September 22 with the exception of the Satellite office located at 3127 Forge Road, which will be issuing storm related building permits.

 

Free waste disposal at the James City County Convenience Centers is available through Wednesday, September 24. The Centers are located at 1204 Jolly Pond Road, open 7 a.m. – 6 p.m; 107 Tewning Road and 3127 Forge Road are open 8 am to 6 pm. All fees are waived.

Storm Damage Building Permits will be issued for free by James City County. Permit forms are available on the County web site, www.jccEgov.com, for printing and at the JCC Satellite Office, 3127 Forge Road. In addition, County building inspectors will be issuing permits in the field. The permits can be E-mailed or faxed. Call for more information call 564-2160.

 

James City County will be enforcing all current open burning regulations. For information about those regulations, call the Fire Department EOC desk at 564-2180.

 

Williamsburg Area Transport will operate full routes on Monday, September 22 until 8 p.m. and Tuesday, September 23 from 5:30 am to 8 pm. William and Mary routes are not operating.

 

Newport News Waterworks has lifted their Boil Water Notice. James City County residents who are customers of Newport News Waterworks (Kingsmill and Grove residents) no longer need to boil their water.

James City County and City of Williamsburg residents and families with emergency needs for water and bath facilities can come to the James City/Williamsburg Community Center on Monday, September 22 4 pm to 7 p.m. for showering/bathing purposes only. Residents should bring all bathing supplies-such as towels, soaps, and shampoos. The Community Center remains closed for all recreational purposes.

 

Debris clean-up is scheduled to begin later in the week. Residents are advised to move woody debris curbside for pick-up. The debris should be kept away from mailboxes, telephone wires, or lamp posts for easier removal.

County officials remind you to tune into your local radio and television stations for the latest information on the hurricane cleanup. If you have power and Cox Cable restored, watch Channel 46 and 48 for more information.
