(James City County) Ever wish you had help with your Water Smart landscaping? Now is your chance to give your yard a Water Smart Makeover for FREE by professional landscapers and designers! Let's be Water Smart, The James City Service Authority's (JCSA) water conservation education program, is hosting a Water Smart Landscape Makeover contest called Water Smart Landscape Challenge. The following are participating Water Smart partners who will professionally design and landscape your yard to be Water Smart by using water conservation techniques and practices such as native, drought tolerant plants and drip irrigation systems: Basnight Land and Lawn; Heart's Ease Landscape and Garden Design; Henderson, Inc.; Precipitation Unlimited, Inc.; Cooke's Gardens; and Smith Turf and Irrigation.
Here's how to enter:
• Answer the following question in 500 words or less: How have you applied Water Smart principles in your home and garden?
• Choose a space measuring approximately 1,000 sq. ft. (20 ft. x 50 ft. space) in your front or backyard. Take one to three pictures of this area.
• Include a short description of what the photographed area looks like.
• Download the application form at www.bewatersmart.org or stop by the JCSA at 101-E Mounts Bay Road or the County Satellite Office at 3127 Forge Road. Fill it out completely!

Not only will the winner receive a great new Water Smart lawn, the winning lawn will also appear on television in a program to be aired on James City County Channel 48! Participants must be single-family homeowners in James City County. The winning home must be located within James City County. Landscaping and design will be done within an approximate 1,000-square foot space only (approx. 20' x 50'). County employees, Water Smart Partners and their employees are not eligible to participate. This competition is open to all resident, single-family homeowners in James City County, regardless of race, creed, sex, or religion. Photographs will not be returned.
