James City County Responds to Lightning Strikes

JAMES CITY COUNTY, VA -- James City County Fire Department responded to fourteen calls from 7 to 9:30 pm on September 19, 2005 during a severe thunder storm. Units responded to six lightning strikes to homes and four storm related automatic fire alarms. Of the buildings struck by lightning, one located in the Padgetts Ordinary section of Kingsmill caught fire. The fire was confined to the exterior near the roof and was controlled within ten minutes. The other buildings struck by lightning received minimal damage but no fires were located. There were no reported injuries.
