24-Hour Media Hotline (804) 586-4455 CHARLES CITY COUNTY - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a follow-up information session on Monday to receive citizens' input on the replacement of the Judith Stewart Dresser Memorial Bridge over the Chickahominy River between Charles City and James City counties.
This meeting will accommodate those who cannot attend tonight's design public hearing due to the heat.
The follow-up meeting will be held Aug. 1 from 4-7 p.m. in the board room of the Charles City County Government and School Administration Building, located at 10900 Courthouse Road.
Monday's session will include the same information as tonight's meeting, however, it will be held indoors to provide another discussion opportunity for residents interested in the Route 5 bridge replacement project.
Tonight's hearing will take place as scheduled from 4-7 p.m. at the Chickahominy Riverfront Park in James City County. The meeting will be held at a sheltered pavilion, with large fans and bottled water available for citizens. This outdoor location is ideal for engineers to show residents the exact locations for bridge construction and to best explain how the project will be executed.
Both of these meetings are an open-house format. Citizens can arrive at any time during the three-hour window to view project plans and information, speak with engineers and give written or oral comments for public record.All questions and comments submitted will be considered prior to design approval.
