A small group of private business owners, united in the desire to honor the men and women firefighters of the City of Williamsburg and James City County, have produced a 2006 calendar that features local firefighters from each department. Proceeds will go to The Central Virginia Burn Camp, a summer camp for children in Charlottesville, VA.
The calendar's design incorporates the idea that only two people know the terror of being caught in a fire -- the victim and the firefighter who risks his or her life to save another person.
Calendars will go on sale Sept.11 for $10 each. The cover features a firefighter and a child of a firefighter.
Dedications from the chiefs of each department introduce the calendar and express pride in their department's service to the community and support of the burn camp.
Each month, a different division within the local departments is featured, with action photos of staff and equipment. Captions explain the services that particular division provides. Each page also includes important department events.
The calendar also features testimonials from children and others involved with the burn camp, as well as helpful fire prevention tips. The back cover is dedicated to the burn camp and its mission, along with important contact information.
The business owners involved with this project donated all of the resources to produce, market and sell the calendar so that 100 percent of the funds raised will go to the camp.
