JAMES CITY COUNTY, VA -- James City County Fire Department responded to two reports of structure fires in the Grove area of the county on Thursday, April 28. The first fire was located in Heritage Mobile Home Village, lot 33. The fire severely damaged one-half of the mobile home displacing three occupants. Red Cross responded and is providing assistance. The initial 911 call was received at 3:19 pm; the first arriving fire department unit arrived at 3:24 pm. The fire was brought under control within ten minutes of arrival. Units from York County, City of Williamsburg and James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department responded also. Fire marshals are investigating the fire cause. There were no injuries reported.
The second fire occurred at Service Metal Fabricators at 1708 Endeavor Drive while fire department units were still at the mobile home fire. The initial call was received at 3:58 with the first unit arriving at 4:00. Due to the proximity of the second call, fire equipment from York County, City of Williamsburg and James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department were released from first call and were sent to Service Metal Fabricators. The fire was contained to a dust collection duct pipe for metal fabrication machinery. The fire involved magnesium dust and was extinguished without incident. There was no damage to the building and no injuries reported. All units cleared the scene at 4:24.
