Grants Available to help care for medically needy relatives

The Virginia Caregivers Grant Program provides a grant of up to $500 annually to caregivers who provide assistance with daily living to a needy relative. These services include, but are not limited to, assisting relatives with eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, and other personal care needs.

 

The relative receiving care must not have received long-term care services paid by Medicaid, except on a periodic or temporary basis. The caregiver's gross annual income must be less than $50,000. Both the caregiver and relative receiving care must be related by blood, marriage or adoption, and a physician must certify that the relative receiving care needs assistance in at least two areas associated with daily living.

 

Grants are awarded for care provided for at least six months of the previous calendar year. To apply for this grant you must submit an application to:
