VDOT to hold public hearing on ROUTE 60 - VDOT looking at corridors to alleviate congestion in James City County and Newport News

HAMPTON ROADS - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a location public hearing Wednesday, May 11 on the proposed Route 60 study. The public hearing will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at James River Elementary School, 8901 Pocahontas Trail in Williamsburg.
The purpose of the Route 60 study is to develop alternative corridors to alleviate traffic congestion on the existing Route 60 in James City County and the City of Newport News. The study begins near Green Mount Industrial Park in James City County and extends to Route 105 (Fort Eustis Boulevard) in Newport News.
Citizens are invited to the public hearing to learn about the study and offer comments. The Draft Environmental Assessment, which addresses the project needs and environmental concerns, will also be available for review.
The meeting is an open format style with no formal presentation. Citizens are invited to attend at their convenience, ask questions and offer comments for the record.
Citizens unable to attend the participation meeting may also submit comments via mail. Instructions for submitting comments are posted on the VDOT web site at http://www.virginiadot.org/projects/publicinvolvement.asp
