WAT to continue Saturday service to Regional Jail

Date: May 25, 2005
Contact: Ruth Richey, Communications Specialist

Phone: (757) 253-6864

Williamsburg Area Transport (WAT) will eliminate Tuesday and Wednesday service but continue Saturday service to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail effective May 31.

WAT's Orange Line began trial service three days a week to the Regional Jail in January. Although the new service was widely publicized, ridership for the weekday trips averaged less than one passenger per run. The bus will continue to depart on Saturdays at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. from the Williamsburg Transportation Center for the 29 minute trip to the jail.
