James City County Park and Recreation Management & Resource Administrator Carla Tyler Brittle is among the Top 40 Under 40 named by Inside Business Magazine. The magazine annually honors 40 young business people who are successful at what they do and have at the same time become actively involved in their community.
Brittle received the honor for her instrumental work in securing Parks and Recreation more than $1 million in grants. She also created and managed the division’s Grant-in-Aid program, which resulted in $50,000 of matching funds to neighborhoods and athletic organizations.
Named “Outstanding New Professional” in 2002 by the Virginia Parks and Recreation Society, she has also earned four “James City County Outstanding Service Awards” for her work in grant-writing and creating partnership policies.
Brittle represents the community with board memberships on the Williamsburg Area Meals on Wheels, the Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg, the allocations committee of the United Way, and the Walnut Hills Baptist Church Personnel Committee. She is also a 2001 graduate of the Leadership Historic Triangle, a leadership program of the Williamsburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
