Neighborhood Connections Director will start May 1

James City County has named a new Director for Neighborhood Connections. Tressell Carter has been selected to fill the position beginning May 1. She succeeds Barbara Watson who was named Community Services Assistant Manager in February.
Carter has served for the past three years as the Executive Director of the Days of Grace Senior Services, Inc., in Richmond, VA. In addition, she was a grant writer for the Historic Triangle Substance Abuse Coalition from 2001 - 2005, and was instrumental in securing funding for the current Strengthening Families program. She also has experience working with state coalitions, such as Virginians Against Domestic Violence.
Carter’s experience also includes fiscal management, community partnerships, training and development, staff and board development, strategic planning, and communication and relationship management with diverse groups. She has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Christopher Newport University.
Neighborhood Connections works to facilitate links between neighbors and County government and empower citizens through training, information sharing and use of resources. It is located at 5340 Palmer Lane, Suite 1A, 259-5422.
