JCC Takes Part In National Hurricane Preparedness Week

May 25, 2008 marks the beginning of National Hurricane Preparedness Week and James City County wants residents to be ready. JCC TV48 will feature archived national and local hurricane preparedness programs May 26- June 1. In addition to the programs, JCC TV48 will have information for citizens on local preparations and emergency assistance. James City County officials encourage citizens to participate in Virginia’s first Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, Sunday, May 25 through Saturday, May 31. During this time, certain items will be exempt from the 5 percent state and local sales tax. Sales tax will not be charged on generators costing 1,000 or less or on 22 other preparedness products selling for $60 dollars or less.
