Land Use Application Deadline Extended
Date: June 30, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The deadline for landowners to request changes in their Land Use designation or request their property be added to or removed from the Primary Service Area (PSA) has been extended. Applications are now due to the Planning office by July 15, 2008.
The Land Use designation, in conjunction with County development guidelines, details how you may be able to use your property in the future. Land Use designations and development standards are used when the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors consider certain development proposals, such as rezonings and special use permits. The Land Use map helps determine what kind of growth will occur in the County and where.
If you are uncertain of the current Land Use designation for your property visit http://property.jccegov.com/parcelviewer/ or call 253-6685.
Applications are available through the Planning Office at 101 A Mounts Bay Road, online at www.jccplans.org or by calling 253-6685. In late summer, you can attend the second round of Community Conversations or go online to www.jccplans.org to review the proposed Land Use changes and offer comments. The Steering Committee will review Land Use applications beginning this fall.
The Comprehensive Plan is the County’s master plan for guiding future growth as put forth by County citizens. Reviewed every 5 years, it is used to evaluate development proposals and guide the decisions of County departments. It covers all aspects of the community, including economic development, population growth, public facilities, parks and recreation, and transportation.
