County Administrator Sandy Wanner has named Carla Brittle, currently County Management and Resource Administrator for Parks and Recreation, to assume the duties of the County’s Business Facilitator beginning July 1, 2008. The Facilitator role is one of many recommendations from the Business Climate Task Force (BCTF) report endorsed by the Board of Supervisors. Ms. Brittle will continue her duties in Parks and Recreation while taking on the Business Facilitator activities.

Ms. Brittle has worked for James City County for ten years and recently completed a 6 month succession management rotation as Special Assistant to the County Administrator. That assignment included working with the Office of Economic Development.

The Business Facilitator will act as a liaison to new and potential businesses by helping them with County government processes.  “I’m looking forward to assisting businesses as they navigate their way through the County system. Having a one-on-one relationship with a County staff person should make the experience positive and productive for them as well as the County,” said Brittle of her new role.  She will report to the County Administrator.

As Management and Resource Administrator for the Parks and Recreation Division she manages Division partnerships, grant writing, customer service, and marketing.  She has raised over $1 million in grants and has experience in the permitting processes for many Parks and Recreation construction projects.  She is a Leadership Historic Triangle graduate and was named by Inside Business, a Hampton Roads Business Journal, as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” individuals in Hampton Roads for career success and community participation in 2006. She has served or supported numerous community organizations including United Way, Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg, Meals on Wheels, and Neighborhood Connections. She has a Masters in Public Administration from Old Dominion University.
