On Thursday, October 23rd, Lawrenceville Brick & Masonry Supply celebrated the grand opening of the Brick Idea Center, a new 26,000-square-foot showroom and warehouse facility in the James River Commerce Park, located in James City County. A ceremony officiated by James City County Board of Supervisors and the Economic Development Authority recognized Lawrenceville’s commitment to the community and determination in overcoming construction delays.
Bruce Goodson, Roberts District Supervisor and Board of Supervisors Chair, presented a commemorative brick made by Colonial Williamsburg craftsmen to Lawrenceville president Ben Powell, drawing on the historical significance of the brickmaking industry to the region.
“In the proud spirit of being 'Open for Business since 1607,' we want to officially welcome Lawrenceville’s newest distribution center,” Goodson remarked. “This facility is a $3 million investment and a commitment to increasing jobs in our community.”
President Ben Powell, who began his 35-year career selling Lawrenceville brick in the Tidewater area, commented, “We’re building on our strong presence in the Hampton Roads market. With the support of more than 15 partners, we offer a complete line of masonry products to trade professionals on the Peninsula.”
“This facility raises the bar in offering a higher level of service to the Hampton Roads building community,” added Ken Tarrant, general manager. “The Brick Idea Center is a fully-staffed resource center designed to help builders, contractors and their clients collaborate.”
