The James City County 2008 Progress Report, “Beyond 2007: Preparing for the Future” is now available electronically at jccEgov.com/progress. The annual Report highlights County accomplishments made during Fiscal Year 2008, July 1, 2007 – June 30, 2008. Traditionally printed and mailed to all households in the County, this is the first time the annual Progress Report is available exclusively online.
There are several benefits to making the change to an electronic version. By the nature of the Internet, citizens can get additional information by clicking on links throughout the document. The links take them to other pages on jccEgov.com or to other websites that provide information.
The electronic version of the annual Report “Beyond 2007: Preparing for the Future” supports the County’s ongoing efforts to protect the environment by eliminating over 184,000 pieces of paper from circulation.
Finally, the online Report saves taxpayers’ money. According to Jody Puckett, James City County Communications Director, “Typically we spend over $6,500 on printing and mailing costs. In light of a tight County budget and recognizing the added value of being able to link to more in-depth information, going electronic was the best option. ”
The Progress Report can be printed by selecting the “printer friendly version” button on the Chairman’s Message page (page 2). For those needing internet access, public computers are available at the Williamsburg Library, 515 Scotland Street and the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Road.
