Deputy Chief Stan Stout attended a reception on August 29, 2005 hosted by the Williamsburg Community Trust where the Department was given a donation check in the amount of $1,000.00. The funds are to be used in a project to upgrade the simple first aid kits issued to County Police Officers to a Deluxe First Aid Kit, which provides more protective equipment to the individual providing First Aid, the Officer.
The Police Department continues to collaborate with the Fire Department with regard to first responder policy and procedures. Although the Firefighters and Medics are qualified to provide medical response, Police Officers are often the first responders to arrive on-scene. All County Police Officers are trained in First Aid and CPR and are able to deliver these services on arrival.
“The Department appreciates the opportunity to develop a partnership with the Williamsburg Community Trust, and we look forward to working with them in the future. During a time where Public Safety Departments are facing budget constraints throughout the Country, we are grateful for the support of local organizations. In addition, we commend the members of the Trust for their dedication to Officer Safety.”
