Board of Supervisors to consider draft 2009 Comprehensive Plan

The James City County Board of Supervisors will consider Historic Past, Sustainable Future, the draft 2009 Comprehensive Plan, at a work session and public hearing on Tuesday, November 10. The work session will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the regularly scheduled public hearing at 7 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the County Government Complex, 101 Mounts Bay Road, in the Building F Work Session and Board rooms.
The draft plan, which was unanimously adopted by the Planning Commission on October 7, and additional materials are available on www.jccplans.org. The meetings are open to the public, though opportunity for public comment will be available only during the public hearing beginning at 7 p.m. Additional meetings to consider the Comprehensive Plan may be scheduled at a later date.
The meetings will be televised live on JCC TV48 and available on-demand on www.jccegov.com/jcctv48. The meetings will also be rebroadcast Thursdays on Community Channel 46 at 8 a.m., 2 p.m., and 8 p.m.
The Comprehensive Plan is the County’s master plan for guiding future growth. Reviewed every five years, it is used to evaluate development proposals and guide the decisions of County departments. It covers all aspects of the community, including economic development, population growth, public facilities, parks and recreation, and transportation.
