Santa Calling (ages 7 and younger), FREE!
Wednesday, December 9, 5:30-8pm
JCC Parks and Recreation is providing a “direct line” to the North Pole on Wednesday, December 9! Santa wants to talk to all children living in James City County and the City of Williamsburg aged 7 years and younger. Please register by December 4 to ensure your child’s name is on Santa’s list. Registration forms are available at the community centers, the Satellite Services Office and online at or by calling 259-5353.


Breakfast with Santa
Saturday, December 12, 9am, $8/person; ages 2 and younger FREE
James City/Williamsburg Community Center
You and your family are invited to attend our annual “Breakfast with Santa.” Enjoy a pancake breakfast and a morning of “holly-day” chat with jolly ole St. Nick – be sure to tell him about the goodies on your list! Photo opportunities available. Please register everyone who is attending. Register by December 9. Max. 100 people.



Rec Connect – Before/After School Programs
Registration forms, program information and fees are available for download at or call the Rec Connect Info Line at 259-3170. The Before/After program is offered at all Williamsburg-James City County public elementary schools. An After-School program only is offered at Berkeley and Toano Middle Schools. James Blair students are transported to Berkeley. Discounts of 15-75 percent are available to any qualified resident based on total income. Red Cross Babysitting Course (ages 12+)
Saturday, December 12, 10am-2pm
$75; $70 for JC/W residents
James City/Williamsburg Community Center
This course covers all the basics of babysitting – childcare, fire and home safety, first aid plus how to set up your own business. Information: or 259-3200.


Inclusion/Specialized Therapeutic Recreation
Teensational Socials (ages 12-22 with physical, emotional or cognitive disabilities)
Saturday, December 19, 1-3pm
$20; $15/session for JC/W residents
The socials are an opportunity for youth to practice social skills, meet new people, learn new skills and have a great time! Sessions held monthly. Information: or  259-5377.


Holiday Programs (all ages)
Holiday Break Program 2009 (Grades K-5)
December 23 & December 28-31, 7am-6pm
$90+/$85+ for JC/W residents
Matthew Whaley Elementary School
Games, fitness activities, crafts, music and daily field trips are just a few great camp features! Registration forms are available at, at the community centers and at the Satellite Services Office beginning November 30 on a first-come, first-served basis. Field trip fees extra. Space is limited. 259-3200.



Mini Matisse Art Camp (ages 6-12)
Ages 6-8: Monday-Wednesday, December 28-30, 10am-noon
Ages 9-12: Monday-Wednesday, December 28-30, 1:30-3:30pm
$60; $55/session for JC/W residents

Learn how to create wonderful “Matisse-like paintings!” $7 supply fee due instructor. Information: or 259-3200.


Basic Drawing Mini Camp (ages 8-16)
Ages 8-11: Tuesday/Thursday, December 29 & 31, 10am-noon
Ages 12-16: Tuesday/Thursday, December 29 & 31, 2-4pm
$50; $45/session for JC/W residents

Teens (grades 6-12)

Creating a Masterpiece

Travel with us to Carytown in Richmond where you’ll get to choose your own piece of pottery to paint. No skills needed. Bring lunch or money for lunch at Willow Lawn Mall.

We’ll glide across the ice at the Hampton Roads Ice Plex followed by lunch at Patrick Henry Mall. Please bring lunch or lunch money.

Calling all Sports Fans(grades 6-12)
Tuesday, December 29, 8am-5pm
$35; $30 for JC/W residents

James River Community Center
We’ll visit Portsmouth where you’ll get to test your skills at the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. This hands-on, interactive museum showcases college sports, the media, the Olympics, golf, auto racing and Redskins exhibits. You’ll also get to strut your stuff in various baseball, basketball, football, soccer and racing activities. Please bring lunch or money for lunch at MacArthur Center Mall. Strike it up (grades 6-12)
Wednesday, December 30, 8am-5pm

James River Community Center
Travel with us to Twin Pins bowling alley in Yorktown. Enjoy a two-hour private bowling party where you can hang out with your friends while listening to music and eating pizza. On the way home, we’ll stop by the Peninsula SPCA petting zoo. Information: or 259-3200.


Adults, Special Interests

Jewelry-Making Classes (ages 16+)
$20; $15/session for JC/W residents
James City/Williamsburg Community Center
You’ll learn the tips and tricks of design while you craft your own beaded jewelry. Beads, pearls, clasps and materials provided. Participants can sign up for a variety of classes on various topics. Depending on class, there may also be a $10-$20 materials fee due the instructor.


Bellydance I (ages 13+)
Monday, December 7 – 28, 7-8pm
$40; $35 for JC/W residents
James City/Williamsburg Community Center
Join us in this introductory class and learn the muscle groups, concepts and basic techniques of bellydancing. No previous dance experience required. Information: or 259-3200.


Gait Analysis, FREE

Working Out with “Bad” Knees and Joints, FREE!

Many suffer from pain in their knees and joints that prevents them from living the lifestyle they crave. Local chiropractor Dr. Daniel Shaye and JCC Personal Trainer

Get in shape or stay in shape with a wide variety of land-and-water-based classes. Over 140 classes offered! Professional instruction!  Access requires either a combo pass or wristband.
