County’s Economic Development Authority Elects Officers

Thomas G. Tingle, AIA was selected as the 2009 chairman of the James City County Economic Development Authority (EDA). Douglas M. Gebhardt is the new vice chairman. Both assumed their new roles at the EDA’s January meeting.
Tingle is President of Guernsey Tingle Architects. He has served as a Director since 2005, working to advance the EDA’s mission of sustaining and expanding the County’s commercial and industrial tax base to help maintain and enhance the quality of life for County citizens. Tingle served as the EDA liaison to the County’s Business Climate Task Force formed in 2006. He currently serves as a director and past president of Virginians for High Speed Rail, as a Director for Chesapeake Bank, and is also a past president of the Williamsburg Area Chamber of Commerce, and former Chamber treasurer and chair of the its Business Development Division.
Gebhardt is Vice President of Pompei, Inc. and is in his first full term on the EDA after filling a vacancy for an unexpired term. Gebhardt has served as a Director since December 2006. Gebhardt is a graduate of the Williamsburg Area Chamber’s Leadership Historic Triangle program and is involved with the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee. Gebhardt received his Master’s in Business Administration from the College of William & Mary.
The James City County EDA is a seven-member voluntary Board whose members are appointed by the County Board of Supervisors and serve staggered four-year terms. The Authority's mission is to assist the County and its Office of Economic Development in expanding James City County's business tax and job bases.
