Wowinchapuncke Historic Highway Marker Located in James City County

James City County Administrator, Sandy Wanner (far right) joins members from the Virginia Council on Indians, Virginia Indian tribal leaders, the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, Virginia Department of Transportation, area archaeologists, local historian and Governor’s Land residents for the dedication of Wowinchapuncke Historic Highway Marker. This historic highway marker honors the Paspahegh Indian Chief, Wowinchapuncke, and will be placed near the entrance to Chickahomony Riverfront Park, in James City County.
