Nineteen James City County residents graduated from the 2010 JCC Citizen Leadership Academy on March 23 and received certificates from members of the James City County Board of Supervisors.

Citizen Leadership Academy, organized by JCC Neighborhood Connections, is a seven-week training course which teaches skills in communication and citizen engagement. Participants gain networking skills and learn how to move from talk to action. The training is provided to County residents at no cost. Skills can be applied to personal, work and community living.

“As a result of Citizen Leadership Academy, I will be able to go back to my neighborhood and help maintain and go forward with improvements for my neighborhood, working with the County along with those of my neighboring communities for the betterment of all,” says Constance Cook-Hudson of Mirror Lakes.
