The Citizen’s Police Academy gives citizens the opportunity to learn more about the daily operations of the County’s Police Department. Sessions taught by officers cover different areas of police training that include criminal law, patrol tactics, proper use of firearms, and crime scene investigations. Participants also have the opportunity to ride with an officer during his or her shift.
At the conclusion of the 14 week Academy, participants graduate and are invited to join the Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association.
To date, 496 citizens have completed the twice-a-year Academy.
