Third Planning Commission Forum scheduled for September 27

James City County has scheduled a third Planning Commission Forum to collect your ideas for the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance Update. The forum begins at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 27 in the Building F Board Room of the County Government Center, 101 Mounts Bay Road.
Forum topics include:
- Commercial and Mixed Use Districts
- Development Standards (including wireless communications facilities)
- Procedural, Submittal, and Administrative Items
- Residential and Cluster Overlay Districts
- Rural Lands Districts
- Subdivision Ordinance and Green Matters
For those who wish to speak at the forum, sign-up forms are available on www.jccplans.org/ordinances.html#Ordinances and are due by September 16. Speakers’ slots are assigned on a first-come first-served basis. The forum will be televised live on JCC TV and available on-demand on http://www.jccegov.com/news/jcctv/video-on-demand.html. The second Planning Commission Forum will be on September 1 at 4:30 p.m. in the same location and will include presentations on Residential and Cluster Overlay Districts, Rural Lands, and the Subdivision Ordinance and Green Matters. The forum is open to the public. People who have not signed up but wish to speak will be given an opportunity to do so at the end of the meeting if time permits.
The Zoning Ordinance is the legal document that defines the appropriate uses for properties throughout the County. The Subdivision Ordinance is the set of regulations that establishes how new lots can be created. The Planning Division is undertaking the ordinance update in order to implement and put into practice many of the concepts expressed in the recently adopted 2009 Comprehensive Plan.
