Freedom Park Closed After Morning Brush Fire

James City County’s Freedom Park is temporarily closed due to an early morning brush fire.  The brush fire is located in a remote area of the Park and was 75 percent contained as of 10 a.m. The area of the brush fire is approximately one to two acres in size. Fire crews are on site and are working with the Virginia Department of Forestry. The brush fire was reported to safety officials by a jogger in the Park at 7:05 a.m.

 

County staff hope to reopen sections of the Park later today. Freedom Park is located at 5535 Centerville Road.
