James City County Teen Program Coordinator Kelley Herbert was named Parks and Recreation’s 2009 Employee of the Year. Herbert was recognized for her dedication to the County’s mission in providing community youth and teens safe programs and activities. When the youth-oriented Beyond the Bell program was eliminated due to budget restraints, Herbert lead her staff in placing the children in other County programs. She also works directly with the Youth Advisory Council, helping them to have a voice in the community.
The Employee of the Year program recognizes employees who consistently perform well beyond what is required on a day-to-day basis. Other 2009 nominees were John Carnifax, Jr., Phyllis Hurr and Bryan Alister Perkinson.
Kelley Herbert, center, was awarded Parks and Recreation’s 2009 Employee of the Year Award by County Assistant Administrator Doug Powell and Community Services Manager Diana Hutchens. Herbert accepted the award during the division’s annual recognition ceremony in February.
