James City County staff has launched a new online Implementation Schedule for the 2009 Comprehensive Plan. The new program tracks the County’s progress in meeting a series of goals, strategies, and actions (GSAs) that were adopted by the Board of Supervisors during the recent Comprehensive Plan update.
The information is available to the public in an interactive format on the County’s website – www.jccegov.com/comprehensiveplan. The Implementation Schedule includes a listing of priorities and stakeholders and identifies a timeline for each GSA. Users can also sort the information in multiple ways and search for keywords.
In addition to the opportunity to track GSA status, the online Implementation Schedule helps County staff develop work programs and link budget requests to the Comprehensive Plan. The public and the Planning Commission will get yearly progress updates through the Planning Commission’s Annual Report.
The Comprehensive Plan is the County’s master plan for guiding future growth. Reviewed every five years, it is used to evaluate development proposals and guide the decisions of County departments. It covers all aspects of the community, including economic development, population growth, public facilities, parks and recreation, and transportation.
