Pack 103 Partners with James City County to Protect Powhatan Creek
April 28, 2010
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Fran Geissler, Stormwater Director
Cub Scouts from Pack 103 recently volunteered with the James City County Stormwater Division to plant a dry stormwater retention pond near Greensprings Trail. The dry pond will help absorb nutrients and toxins from wet weather runoff before they get to Powhatan Creek.
Additional volunteers are needed to help improve the water quality of local creeks and rivers by supporting native planting events, monitoring biological conditions and testing for bacteria. To get involved as a group or individual, contact the Stormwater Division at 259-1448 or firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information about stormwater ponds and caring for waterways, visit the stormwater page on the County’s website www.jccegov.com/stormwater.
