James City County’s My Place playground is featured in the November 2010 edition of “Parks & Rec Business,” a national magazine with a base readership of more than 30,000 parks and recreation professionals. The magazine recognizes innovative practices, facilities and products for the parks and recreation profession.
My Place, an all-inclusive playground adjacent to the James City Williamsburg Community Center, opened in December 2009 as a project of the Leadership Historic Triangle Class of 2009. The playground includes all of the features of a traditional playground – swings, a merry-go-round and climbing equipment, but in a barrier-free environment. Upon completion, the playground was donated to James City County for management and maintenance.
To support the community-built My Place, join the commerative brick paving campaign to ensure future generations know that My Place is your place too. For information, call 259-5415 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
