James City County’s 2009 Progress Report has received a National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) Award of Excellence.
NACIO, an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo) with members from 3,066 communities across the United States, holds the annual competition to honor the best public information and community outreach efforts by local governments. The award will be given at the annual NACo Conference in July.
The 2009 Progress Report can be found online at www.jccEgov.com/progress. This is the second year that the County has produced an online only version of the annual report that takes full advantage of the opportunities that are inherent to the Internet. Readers are encouraged to interact with the information by watching video clips and following links imbedded throughout the seven page report. The links connect readers to pages within the County’s website where they can learn more about County projects, master planning and other initiatives that affect their lives.
The electronic version of the Progress Report supports the County’s ongoing efforts to protect the environment by eliminating over 184,000 pieces of paper from circulation and saves over $6,500 on printing and mailing costs.
The 2010 Progress Report will also be available exclusively online later this summer.
